Brief description/summary of project: The group gathered to create projects and put on events such as talent shows, they made posters, held meetings etc. It helped prevent youth from doing harmful things such a drinking and driving, smoking and ditching school.

What age range did this project/initiative target? Just Youth put on many different shows and events for all ages but it mainly targeted kids 13 and up.

What cost, if any, was involved? The only cost was a youth’s free time; they had to volunteer for this. There was no financial cost, except for when they had a pizza party at the end of the year.

What approval had to be obtained for the project/initiative to be carried out? I believe the approval came from the 3 teachers involved, the principal and vice principal.

What were the main responsibilities/tasks of the leaders/organizers? The main tasks of the leaders were to think of things to put on for kids that would both interest and educate them; the main supervisors made sure that those ideas were brought into action.

What were the short-term goals? The short term goals were to help kids enjoy school and also have fun. It was meant to help kids start thinking about their future.

What were the long-term goals? The long term goals were to help kids realize how dangerous the world can be and what they have to do to avoid very bad obstacles in their lives, and how to maybe deal with them.

Were these goals achieved? I can’t speak for everyone of course, but I feel like the goals were reached to an extent. Some kids took it in and some didn’t; but everyone thought it was a great idea and enjoyed it: teachers and students alike had a great time.

How did this initiative benefit the school or community? This benefited the community by showing it that there are people who care about us and care about where we go with our lives. It showed a lot of people that there is a place in school where you are always welcome and that school isn’t just about working hard, it’s about enjoying life, having fun, and building strong and healthy relationships with each other.
