A Step Forward

Having our own income is always exciting. Whether we want to buy that dress we’ve been eyeing at the store, or that video game we’ve always wanted, it’s fun to know that we have money to call our own. When we were younger, our parents may have helped us learn the value of a dollar by giving us a small allowance for doing simple chores or a good deed. But as we get older, the responsibly of earning money for ourselves rests in our own hands.
Getting a part-time job is an awesome opportunity to take on while you’re a teenager. There are endless jobs out there waiting just for you! Whether you like babysitting, working in retail, working at a grocery store or even helping an older sibling or cousin build homes, there are lots of jobs to suit your interests. This way you will be earning money for yourself and gaining great experience that can help you in the future. The benefits of this will go beyond the shopping mall – you will be proud of yourself!

Service Canada also has what are called Service Canada Centres for Youth all across the country. These centres help teens acquire meaningful employment, free of charge.
